Many people have asked me what type of pen I use. After explaining
that I use a modified RSVP, I often hear more questions about my modification
than before. To solve the mystery once and for all, here's a detailed
view and description of my pen. With a bit of creativity, you should
be able to make your own as well.

The ink tube is removed and reversed
to prevent ink marks on your clothes. |
| 2 |
A small hole is made in the back cap to allow the
ink tip to show through. This allows the pen to still be usable. |
| 3 |
A design pattern is customly
made and printed (using Adobe Photoshop) to mark the COP, and add
to the pen's aesthetics. |
| 4 |
This grip was taken from a Pentel Hybrid Gel Grip
(made by Pentel Japan). |
| 5 |
The metal tip is also taken from
a Pentel Hybrid Gel Grip (made by Pentel Japan). |
| 6 |
The cap has its clip removed and sanded to prevent
the clip from getting on the way of tricks. The cap is from a Pentel
RSVP (made by Pentel USA). |
| 7 |
The body of the pen is also from
a Pentel RSVP medium line (made by Pentel USA). The white part is
just the tip wrapped with the rubber tape used for sealing kitchen
pipes. This allows the tip to remain secure while absorbing part of
the impact when the pen drops. I found that using instant glues makes
the tip of the pen crack easily. |
Note: This is not a full tutorial on how to make the pen. There are
always different methods of accomplishing the same results, so I'll
leave it to you to figure them out. Half of the fun in creating pen
mods is learning how to do them right, which often means you'll not
get it in the first attempt.
Update (06/19/2003): Despite not having a full tutorial yet, many
people seem to be able to make this mod. The only thing I was requested
a lot was for the design used for the pen. Although the above design
is copyrighted, I decided to give out a free version for your download.
Just save the picture below and print it out at 72dpi (actual size should
be 9 x 3.81 cm). Enjoy :)
