08/14/2002 - Tricks Learning Order

I'm still having bad connection to the server. I'm starting to think it's a problem with my computer, which means I'll have to format it and all, but here's a small update anyway.

Added a Suggested Learning Order chart. This chart shows an order for pen tricks which I believe to be a good order for learning. The chart can also be accessed throught the FAQs page.

08/11/2002 - Bad connection...

During the last few weeks, I've been having problems connecting to the site. It seems that the problem lies withing my own computer, since everyone else is having no problems. As of this time, I can't imagine what the problem might be. While I try to solve this problem, there'll be very little updates to the site. That is, if I can connect.

Meanwhile, here's a couple new pen spinning sites: Ethereal Cascade and Hantricks. Don't forget to check Hantrick's Message Board.

[Edit] This update was made in a hurry because the connection to the server could be broken at any time. Now that I look back, the grammar on the sentences was horrible and I'm so ashamed of it. That's why I edited this update ;)

06/22/2002 - Message board temporarily down...

It seems that the hosting service I'm using is currently upgrading its servers. As a result, the Message Board is currently unable to connect to its database. Sorry, there's nothing I can do about it. The upgrades should be completed by the end of the day.

[Edit] It seems that the upgrade has been completed. The message board is functional again.

06/19/2002 - finally working?

All the bugs and minor errors sent to me were corrected. I'm still working on the Message Board (basically making minor design changes), but both the site and the board should be working perfectly now.

Additionally, the 'Tell a Friend' feature (located on this page) is working again.

06/18/2002 - Moving Forum content...

Curently, the Pentix Message Board is pretty empty. I'm manually moving the content of the old Forum to the new message board. I'm starting with the newest threads first and work my way to the old contents. Note: Not all contents will be transferred, only the most recent ones. For now, you can still access the old Forum here. If there's a thread in which you were participating, feel free to respond to it in the old Forum. Please do not create any new topics on the old Forum (these should be created in the new Message Board). You'll also notice that some topics in the old Forum have been closed. These topics have already been moved to the new board and you can respond to them there.

06/18/2002 - New site design...and major site changes.

Finally finish the new design for the site. There has been some major site changes, so please be aware of them.

1) Techniques section has been renamed to Tricks. This is a more descriptive word and a better keyword for search engines ;) Along with this change, most occurences of the word "technique" have been replace with the word "tricks". Read the Glossary for the new definitions.

2) Videos section has been divided into different subsections. All the videos are the same, but due to the large amount of videos, the videos have been divided into Tricks, Combos, and Two-Handed Tricks. Due to this reorganization, some directories have been renamed (if you had any bookmarks or links pointing directly to the videos, please check that they are still valid).

3) The Forum has been renamed and replaced with the new Message Board. The new board has numerous new and better features, including private messages and the fact that there are no more pop-ups or banners. Check it out.

Note: Due to incompatibility between the two boards, I am unable to transfer all the data from the old forum to the new message board. Even though there is no need to register in order to post messages, old users will need to re-register in order to take full advantage of the new board (registration is free and worth the time. In the future, I plan to incorporate the pen spinners section with the message board, so users don't have to register twice).

4) There's no need to say that all pages have a new look, is there? Comments are welcome (please use the message board to post comments, so I don't have to check my e-mail).

5) New content: FAQs section updated. New page: About (read the description for this section above). Other minor content changes (mostly correction of spelling errors).

Also, in case you haven't followed the last few updates: the 'Tell a Friend' feature and the Add/Change Profile form in the Pen Spinners section are not working (I'm working to fix them).

06/16/2002 - Site maintainance...

The 'Tell a Friend' feature (located on the left side of this page) seems to be having problems. The feature have been disabled for now. I'll try to fix it as soon as possible.

06/12/2002 - Good and Bad News...

First the bad news. Due to my recent lack of time, the site has been a little abandoned lately (at least it's what it seems). This means that I don't curently have time to update the profiles in the Pen Spinners section, and for that reason the 'Add/Change Profile' form have been disabled.

The good news: First, I just gathered some time to update the last two profiles that were sent to me (they were seating there for a while, almost accumulating dust ;). To those who were waiting to be added, my apologies for taking so long.

Second, the reason why I'm so busy lately is because I'm working on a new site design. If you have been visiting this site for a while now, you are probably already tired of this old look. I would say that right now the new design is about 70% ready, so it's just a little more wait :p

06/01/2002 - New Pencil Spinning page...by David Weis

Many of you know about David Weis's pencil spinning videos, which contain some amazing Thumb Spin tricks. Due to copyright issues and other complications, I could never host his videos for the pleasure of other pen spinners. All I could do was learn the tricks and make videos of my own (but let's face it, there are things in his videos that I may never be able to do). Recently, I contacted David Weis, and since he doesn't have any place to host his site right now, I'll be hosting his videos on my old free hosting services (Yahoo!Geocities and ProHosting).

Pencil Spinning (Geocities Mirror)
Pencil Spinning (Prohosting Mirror)

I understand that the data tranfer allowed on these free hosting services are limited; therefore, I included two mirror sites. If one is down, you can try the other one. Also, for the Geocities mirror, the data tranfer is calculated by the hour, so you can try again in the next hour if the link is not working.

Note: the links are also included in the Videos section for future reference.
