About Pentix
Ever wondered how some people can spin their pen around their Thumb so casually during classroom lecture? Only to try it out and become even more frustrated? Well, don't stress yourself anymore. Pentix is here to help you.

Pentix is a web site dedicated to the art of "pen spinning". The objective of this page is to teach you how to spin a pen the easiest way possible.

Pen spinning is a form of contact juggling that uses a small object, like a pen or a pencil, to perform different tricks that not only sharpen your skills, but also amaze people.

06/16/2002 - Site maintainance...

The 'Tell a Friend' feature (located on the left side of this page) seems to be having problems. The feature have been disabled for now. I'll try to fix it as soon as possible.

06/12/2002 - Good and Bad News...

First the bad news. Due to my recent lack of time, the site has been a little abandoned lately (at least it's what it seems). This means that I don't curently have time to update the profiles in the Pen Spinners section, and for that reason the 'Add/Change Profile' form have been disabled.

The good news: First, I just gathered some time to update the last two profiles that were sent to me (they were seating there for a while, almost accumulating dust ;). To those who were waiting to be added, my apologies for taking so long.

Second, the reason why I'm so busy lately is because I'm working on a new site design. If you have been visiting this site for a while now, you are probably already tired of this old look. I would say that right now the new design is about 70% ready, so it's just a little more wait :p

06/01/2002 - New Pencil Spinning page...by David Weis

Many of you know about David Weis's pencil spinning videos, which contain some amazing Thumb Spin tricks. Due to copyright issues and other complications, I could never host his videos for the pleasure of other pen spinners. All I could do was learn the tricks and make videos of my own (but let's face it, there are things in his videos that I may never be able to do). Recently, I contacted David Weis, and since he doesn't have any place to host his site right now, I'll be hosting his videos on my old free hosting services (Yahoo!Geocities and ProHosting).

Pencil Spinning (Geocities Mirror)
Pencil Spinning (Prohosting Mirror)

I understand that the data tranfer allowed on these free hosting services are limited; therefore, I included two mirror sites. If one is down, you can try the other one. Also, for the Geocities mirror, the data tranfer is calculated by the hour, so you can try again in the next hour if the link is not working.

Note: the links are also included in the Videos section for future reference.

05/18/2002 - More Links added...

I learned recently that there are more art forms of manipulation than I ever imagined. Just as some examples, the balisong (also known as a butterfly knife) and the Zippo lighter each have their own community of 'manipulators' (I don't know the correct term for them). Anyways, the links show sites that teach you how to do tricks with these unusual(?) objects.

05/16/2002 - Pentix, a hot site!!!

USA TODAY AWARDI've just received an e-mail telling me that Pentix "was selected as a Hot Site in today's edition of USATODAY.com". To see what they say about the site, click on the banner to the left.

I'm truly honored to receive this award, not only because it's my work, but also because it proves that Pen Spinning isn't just a silly passtime. Hehe, I always believed that pen spinning has potential.

04/28/2002 - 8 new tricks added to the Videos section.

Videos section updated, this time with 8 new tricks. One major change: Due to the time limitation I have to create new videos, I will no longer bother to shoot the videos against a clean white background. Nonetheless, I still tried to keep the background as clean as possible (comments about the change are welcome).

Here are the new videos: Thumb Snap, Snap Flip, Infinity Normal [side view], Triple Normal, Devil's Sonic, Backhand Tracer, Fake Triple Normal, Sonic Bust.

04/21/2002 - Not really an update, just a sign that I'm still alive. :)

Since I have been very busy lately, no new techniques or videos were added. However, while you wait for the next update, check the Links section as most categories have new links.

04/02/2002 - First two handed trick added...plus some updates in other areas of the site.

Videos section updated. This update brings a new category of tricks: 'Two Handed Tricks'. This is the beginning of some really advanced tricks (for those who asked for). In the future, there might be more tricks added and also the possibility for other categories, such as 'Dual Pen Tricks'.

In case you didn't notice, I added a new little feature on this page. The 'Tell a Friend...' form (located on the left center of this page) can be used as a quick way to tell your friends about this site (your friend will receive a automated e-mail from Pentix).

Updated the 'Add/Change Profile' form in the Pen Spinners section. It is now better organized and got a new look as well (tested under IE5/Netscape6). Also, for those who like to get in touch with other pen spinners, I added support for the Yahoo! Instant Messenger as well as the MSN Messenger.

03/25/2002 - Finally got some time to update the site...

Added a new juggling site (Malabarismo.net) to the Links page. The webmaster of the site has recently asked me to do an interview (which is in Spanish and English) for his site. What does this mean? That you get to know more about me and this site (I knew you cared ;p). Oh, and for the curious ones, there's also some photos of myself (I can't believe I never had the time to put any before).

Ok, just so this wouldn't be another boring update without much content, I added a new trick (magicians will know where I got the idea from) to the Videos section. More new tricks are to come in a few days. Just be patient...

03/01/2002 - Updated Pen Spinners section.

I finally decided to change the look of the Pen Spinners section. The new layout should look cleaner and easier to read.
